Christie Jahn Hovey is a professor in the Business & Technologies Division at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois, where she teaches Introduction to Business and Human Resource Management, computer applications, and computer office technology full-time. Christie has a bachelor's degree in Education from Illinois State University, a master's degree in Education/Human Resource Development from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), and is A.B.D. in Community College Leadership from UIUC. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she taught high school and was a corporate training consultant for Fortune 500 companies, as well as for state government and numerous small businesses. Christie is one of the pioneers in the early 2000s for the Illinois Virtual High School teaching keyboarding online. Christie was the chair of the business subcommittee that recently revised the requirements of her state's computer applications transfer course taken by business students.
Christie is involved in her community volunteering and having served on a number of non-profit boards. She will become president of the Illinois Business Education Association (IBEA) in November and is the current president of her local IBEA affiliate.
Christie enjoys talking with and learning from others. She recognizes the impact technology has for all learners and appreciates being part of this exciting transition to interactive, digital learning!
