Understand how your activity scores and overall grade are calculated.
Grading Method
- Points
- Each assignment is weighted by its point value, so a 20 point activity counts twice as much as a 10 point activity. To calculate the overall average, the total points earned is divided by the total points possible.
- Percentage
- Each assignment is weighted equally, so a 20 point activity counts the same as a 10 point activity. To calculate the overall average, activity scores are normalized as percentages and then averaged.

- Activities not assigned to a category
- Categories with no activity scores
When category weighting is used, the 
icon is shown only for activities that are counted toward your grade.
Uncategorized activities or activities belonging to a category with a weight of 0
do
not display the icon.
When your instructor uses category weighting, category averages are calculated using the selected calculation method (by points or percentages).
