Susan Davis
I came to Higher Education later in my career. My corporate roles included Financial Controller for Whirlpool Corporation,, Internal Auditor and Sr. Financial Analyst for Eastman Kodak, Sr. Financial Analyst for Mellon Bank and Fisher Scientific Group.I have led workforces through very difficult decisions, including a plant closure, with sensitivity and transparency.
My experiences as an academician include serving as both an Assistant and Interim and Dean of the College of Business and the Director of the Doctorate of Business Administration. I also have worked with communities to expand economic opportunities by advancing entrepreneurship and providing resources to assist in successful business startups, maintenance of growth and exploration of new business opportunities. Roles as the Director for the Center for Women Entrepreneurs at a Women’s College and Director of Small Business Development Center supported this objective.
I have led successful accreditation efforts at both the program and university levels, designed academic programs and developed curriculum for various modalities (online, hybrid, face-to-face) for all levels of study (baccalaureate, master and doctoral).
I have served, since 2014, as a full-time faculty member for Belmont Abbey College in Belmont North Carolina and am experienced with Cengage Unlimited, MindTap, Blackboard, Brightspace, CANVAS, Angel, Moodle, WebAssign, and eBooks. My disciplines include leadership, general business, management (operations, human resources and strategic), and finance.
I am certified as a Quality Matters – Certified Higher Education Peer Reviewer and experienced in applying the QM rubric.
Although data driven by an accounting degree and an MBA with a major in finance and economics, my PhD, focused on organization and management with specializations in leadership and human resource management has strengthened my ability to communicate and impact in a more effective manner. I like what I do!
