I'm an accounting instructor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In addition to teaching full time, I'm a lead advisor for Business Professionals of America (BPA), an academic student organization and I run a tax preparation site for Davenport's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. I'm an active member of the Michigan Association of Public Accountants (MACPA) and the Association of Governmental Accountants (AGA). My professional background before joining Davenport's accounting and finance faculty team was working at a regional public accounting firm preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, not-for-profits, estates and trusts. I was also involved with audits, payroll services and accounting consulting engagements.

My public accounting experience has afforded me the ability to teach many different levels of accounting and taxation with most of my course load in foundational level accounting I and II courses. The other classes I teach are federal taxation for all business formations, advanced accounting and governmental and not-for-profit accounting. These courses, formats and the very diverse student populations that Davenport attracts require an excellent learning management system to meet and exceed student learning expectations. Cengage has offered just that through their CNowV2 LMS with a focus on blank sheet pencil and paper input and ASPs. Two excellent learning tools that I've used in depth in my classes and have increased student learning attainment. I look forward to sharing my experience with others, utilizing these tools and the results they achieve.
