Sandy Keeter
I've been a full-time Professor in the Information Technology Department at Seminole State College in Florida since 1994, but I've been a computer "trainer" since the early 1980s. I teach Intro to Computers and various Microsoft Office courses, on-campus and online. We have used SAM in our Office Applications classes since the late '90s and are currently using MindTap Collections for Intro to Computers.
As the Program Manager and Course Coordinator for our Introduction to Computers and Office Applications classes, I create and manage the course masters for SAM, MindTap and Canvas. I am also responsible for the hiring and training of new professors to maintain quality and consistency of instruction in multiple-section courses.
Due to our ever-changing enrollment and student population, we rely on Cengage digital products more than ever and use them to their fullest extent (90% of student grade). With the many engaging tools and features, quick grading and feedback, students learn from their mistakes and reinforce what they already know.
SAM and MindTap greatly facilitate teaching, allowing more time to engage students, and improve completion and retention. Integrating Cengage products and Office 365 tools into our Canvas LMS has further enhanced our courses and I look forward helping colleagues make that transition as well.
I earned my BS in Operations Research from the United States Air Force Academy and my MS in Information Systems Management from the University of Southern California. I’m passionate about increasing women’s participation in computing and have been involved in several grants to enhance student recruitment and delivery of our courses to create a more diverse, engaging and inclusive experience. As a Faculty Partner, I love to network, share best practices, and learn from colleagues.
