
Melinda Doty
I have been a full-time faculty member in the Department of Technology Systems at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina since August 2008 and have been teaching information technology courses since 2004. I currently teach computer applications for industry, internet tools technology and have previously taught computer applications in a virtual world. I teach a wide-range of students from traditional, freshman students in face-to-face classes to non-traditional, working adults entering at the junior level and only taking only online courses.
I use both SAM and MindTap platforms and have recently transitioned to an integrated version of MindTap within Blackboard. I love the ability to use multiple textbooks with each platform to further enhance student learning and employability. I focus on using SAM Projects and SAM Paths for my computer applications class and use MindTap with SAM integrations for the internet tools class.
I have worked with Cengage for many years and have seen how the platforms have evolved through the years to reach the products they are today. I have served on various focus groups for Cengage as well as served on various committees at the department, college and university level for my institution. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education, a Master of Science Degree in Vocational Education – Information Technologies and a Graduate Certificate in Professional and Technical Education. I look forward to working with colleagues to enhance and improve their use of Cengage digital platforms to further improve the next generation of computer users.
