Dr. Mark Shellman
I am the Chair of the Information Technology Department at Gaston College, located in Dallas, North Carolina. Within the department we have the following A.A.S. programs: Applications Development, Data Analytics & Database Management, Digital Media, Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems Support, and Networking & Security. I primarily teach courses in the Applications Development and Data Analytics & Database Management programs, and have extensive experience in online course development.
I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from N.C. State University, a M.S. in Computer Education from Barry University, and an Ed.S. and Ed.D. in Higher Education from Appalachian State University. I am most definitely a lifelong learner. I have authored many instructor materials for Cengage over the years and more recently I co-authored the New Perspectives Microsoft Office 365 & Access 2016 texts with Sasha Vodnik.
I have been very fortunate to have chosen a career that I truly love, and challenges me each day. In the technology field, we never know what the future holds, and it changes constantly. The only constant is change. We must as educators embrace change and be willing to share our passion with our students.
