Mark Hartwell

I am a full-time Professor in the SUNY system and have been for over 22 years. I also am a licensed and semi-retired New York Attorney, with expertise in several areas. I enjoy working with students at every level on a daily basis and consider myself to be a lecturer, mentor, advisor, and friend. I enjoy traveling when I have free time from my hectic schedule, locally and internationally. I also enjoy music, learning, sports, and lastly spending time with the love of my life, my 8-year-old son, who is also my sun. I consider myself a "life-long learner" and I am contemplating going back to the University of Southern California for a Doctorate in Social Justice.

I am a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, and the Monroe, Erie, and Onondaga Counties Bar Associations in New York. For the past 22 years, I have worked as a teacher in the SUNY system. For the first six years of my career, I taught at Finger Lakes. Teaching in the areas of Constitutional Law, Torts, and Criminal Law, as well as a few other subjects. I then moved to Corning for a better opportunity and have stayed there ever since. During my time at Corning, I've learned a lot. I've taught a paralegal course (which is no longer available here), as well as a variety of Criminal Justice courses, including but not limited to Juvenile Justice Systems, Introduction, and others. I was invited to give a lecture at Oxford University about my own research. During my 17 years at Corning, I have consistently ranked in the top 1% of my student assessments. In 2015, I got the New York State Chancellors Award for Teaching Excellence in Teaching. I've collaborated with a number of faculty members at my college, as well as others.

In many ways, my time at Cengage has been extremely rewarding. Cengage is dependable, patient and compassionate in my opinion, and no matter where you fall in terms of IT expertise, they can lead you to where you want to be. Cengage, I feel, creates chances and facilitates and frees up precious time for educators to focus on what matters most being the student/professor connection. This is beneficial to both students and educators. I couldn't possibly contain everything I wanted to say about Cengage into one little biography. Cengage is the acme of a successful publisher-professor collaboration.

"I believe MindTap opens opportunity and frees up more time for professors to do what is important. It opens up doors for both students and the professors. There are just so many wonderful things I could say about MindTap and Cengage. Cengage is exactly what a perfect relationship between a publisher and college professor should look like. Simply put, Cengage is the BEST!"
