Laura Beth Pleasant
Hello. My name is Laura Beth Pleasant and I am an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Area of Management at Texas Tech University's Rawls College of Business. I joined the faculty full time in the Fall of 2014 while maintaining my private law practice part-time at Franks & Pleasant, LLP. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Agriculture in 2002, and my Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 2006, both from Texas Tech University.
I teach three sections of Business Law 3391 each semester. In addition, I teach the online graduate level Business Law course for the Professional MBA and STEM MBA programs; a live section for the MSA program; and last but certainly not least, I have the privilege of teaching Business Law 3391 abroad in Florence, Italy during the summer.
I have a passion for teaching students. After graduating from law school I actually returned to education, teaching law, government and history classes on the high school level for a few years before starting my legal career. When I got married and returned to Lubbock I began practicing law. Working as a full-time attorney for approximately five years, I realized that I missed education. I've found a new home at Rawls College of Business where I am able to educate and mentor students once again.
I am an active member of the Lubbock Area Bar Association, the South Plains Trust and Estate Council, and Victory Life Church. In my spare time I enjoy shooting bows, riding four-wheelers, traveling and taking pictures with my husband and son.
