Kiersten Baughman
I have been teaching online in some fashion since my first teaching experience in graduate school in 2009. I have held a number of full-time teaching positions in my academic career, and each has taught me more about the importance of demonstrating my continued passion and enthusiasm for psychology.
As a college student, I remember utilizing Cengage textbooks, but I didn't pay very close attention to the publisher. When I began reviewing course resources for adoption as an instructor, I gravitated toward the online platforms offered with Cengage including MindTap and SAM. I am now an associate professor of psychology at Valley City State University. I hold a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Oklahoma as well as an M.S. in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma and a B.S. in Psychology and Spanish from Morehead State University.
I teach a vast array of courses including Introduction to Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Health Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Understanding Statistics, and a special topics course on Intimate Partner Violence. My research focuses on the culture of honor and its role in perpetuating intimate partner violence, and I enjoy infusing knowledge of empirical evidence into every single aspect of my teaching.
