Kathrine Johnson
I am a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Boise State University. I am a university and department new faculty mentor and have worked with area high school dual credit mathematics teachers. I have adapted Team-Based LearningTM (TBL) methods to increase student engagement and sense of belonging in introductory mathematics courses, including large (120 students) and fully online sections. With Webassign, students were able to continue meaningful collaborative learning remotely during the pandemic.
I earned BAs in Mathematics and Biology from The College of Idaho, an MS in Applied Mathematics from Minnesota State University (Mankato) and a PhD in Applied Probability from the University of Idaho. Current research interests include the use of peer learning and team assessment, particularly in online courses. I have authored two workbooks; Learning Through Practice: Statistical Reasoning, and Learning Through Practice: Doing Statistics.
