I am an Associate Professor in Reading and Education at South Plains College, in Levelland, Texas. I have taught developmental reading courses, partnered with learning strategies classes; stand-alone learning strategies courses; and now, integrated reading and writing classes. I teach courses in both face-to-face and online formats. I have always required an online component to face-to-face classes. My faculty training started online actually, where I served as a faculty assistant to a professor known for her dynamic online instruction. Perhaps because of my love for the online environment, I see the need for a digital measure that offers students skill-building strategies and objective grading measures, in a fun and engaging platform.
I earned my Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University, and my Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management, from Emmanuel College in Boston. While at South Plains College, I have served on several committees, including the Scholarship Committee, the Director of the Prose competition for the state-wide University Interscholastic League (UIL), the Professional Development Committee, and I am the lead advisor to Phi Theta Kappa – an internationally recognized honor society for students at two-year colleges.
