I am a Senior Instructor in the Department of Psychology and Communication Studies at the University of Idaho. I teach graduate, undergraduate and honors Communication courses, and I am also the course director for COMM 101 (Fundamentals of Public Speaking).

We have been using MindTap for our entire COMM101 program since 2012. Initially, I was simply looking for an online textbook reader that would integrate with my institution's learning management system.

Over time, I came to appreciate not only the seamless integration between our LMS and MindTap, but also the array of MindTap apps that help our students learn. My favorite app is Outline Builder, a tool that walks students through the process of creating a speech outline. As soon as our students began using MindTap, we saw a huge improvement—both in the quality of student outlines and in the quality of speech delivery—and I'm happy for the opportunity to talk with other faculty about our use of MindTap as well as the results we've seen from using it.
