Danielle Andrews-Brown
As an educator, researcher, and current interim department chair, I am deeply committed to fostering student success through innovative, inclusive, and accessible teaching strategies. My academic background in Environmental Soil Science and my role in the Department of Agriculture allow me to integrate real-world challenges into the classroom—connecting students to urgent topics like climate change, food systems, sustainability, and precision agriculture.
While I was initially hesitant to adopt digital learning tools, Cengage MindTap transformed that hesitation into enthusiasm. Its intuitive design, flexibility, and depth of content allow me to seamlessly align assignments with learning outcomes while supporting a variety of learning styles. From embedded multimedia to customizable assessments, MindTap has become an integral part of how I engage students and track their progress. It has also reduced grading time and improved student accountability, especially in content-rich courses.
As a Cengage Faculty Partner, I enjoy sharing my experiences with other instructors who may be unsure about transitioning to digital platforms. I know what it’s like to be skeptical, and I can confidently say that Cengage offers tools that empower both instructors and students. My goal is to help fellow educators find meaningful, manageable ways to incorporate digital content that enhances—not overwhelms—their teaching.
When I’m not in the classroom, I’m mentoring undergraduates, collaborating on USDA-funded projects, and working to ensure that higher education remains equitable, innovative, and deeply connected to community needs.
