I am a motivated, enthusiastic and energetic Health Information professional. I serve as the HIT Instructor in the Health Information Technology Program at San Juan College in Farmington, NM. I also manage the Student Insurance Plan at Eastern Illinois University.
I'm a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and an AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer, teaching 100% online. I have taught all things related to Health Information and Medical Coding/Billing, including Statistics, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Legal and Ethical Issues in HIT, Introduction to Data Management, Medical Terminology, Coding Professional Practice Experience, RHIT Exam Prep, Introduction to Health Information Technology, ICD-10-CM Coding, ICD-10-PCS Coding, CPT & HCPCS Coding and more. I have used most of the Cengage products available for Medical Coding/HIT programs. I take advantage of technology to make the classroom an engaging place to learn.
I hold a Master of Science in Healthcare Informatics from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration from Stephens College, and a Bachelor of General Studies from Eastern Illinois University. I stay very active in my professional organizations. I currently serve on several committees with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and serve as President for the Illinois Health Information Management Association (ILHIMA).
