Originally printed in Personnel Journal, April 1993, Vol. 72, No. 4, pp. 50 - 62. Profiles of three companies' diversity programs: Prudential, Avon Products and Hewlett-Packard. Each profile is organized as follows:

- The components of the diversity program. One component at Prudential was to provide diversity training to 12,000 managers.
- Description of results. At Prudential, there was a greater company-wide acceptance and respect for diversity issues.
- Setbacks in getting the program implemented. Prudential did not anticipate the difficulties in training its own staff to teach diversity programs.
