Karen Scott — University of Texas

Although I have reviewed similar tools from other publishers over the years, I have not found one that serves our needs as well as SAM.

I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Information Systems and Operations Management Department. I have a Master of Science in Information Systems and have been teaching since 1998. Prior to teaching, I worked as a programmer, database administrator, and project manager; and I have continued to stay involved in industry as a computer consultant.

During my time at UTA, I have taught a wide range of systems-related courses in both traditional and online formats, including Introduction to MIS, Database Management, E-Commerce, Information Resource Management, and Systems Analysis and Design. I am the Course Coordinator for the Introduction to MIS class and as such, I am responsible for choosing the course materials each semester. I have continuously chosen SAM for more than 12 years now. It is an excellent online tool for training, assessment, and homework assignments ' ' ' ' for both the students and the instructors. It has a very intuitive web-based interface, comprehensive online resources, a convenient automatic grading engine, and it integrates well with popular Learning Management Systems. Although I have reviewed similar tools from other publishers over the years, I have not found one that serves our needs as well as SAM.
