Barbara Mullaney — Tennessee State University

We adopted EWA primarily for students to access their eBooks, but it has grown to be an integral part of course management, communication and instructional aide.

For the past 12 years, I have been teaching College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Basic Calculus and Math for Elementary Teachers at Tennessee State University in Nashville. I also piloted college algebra courses during times of restructuring from the elimination of our developmental studies program to the addition of learning support and online course technology. For the past year, I have served as the Coordinator of online courses providing faculty support, ongoing training, student registration and course development using Enhanced WebAssign. We adopted EWA primarily for students to access their eBooks, but it has grown to be an integral part of course management, communication and instructional aide.

I graduated from Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans with a BFA in drawing and painting. After enjoying a career in computer graphics, I pursued a Masters in Education with math major in curriculum and instruction at Loyola University of Chicago, then earned my Masters in Science in Mathematics at Tennessee State University where I currently teach. My math and education background has led to grant opportunities including Scientists in the Classroom where I delivered science and math activities to Davidson county middle schools, SITES-M faculty mentor for middle school teachers, and a SAFRA grant creating learning support videos accessible via eLearn for every student enrolled at TSU. In the summer, I am lead teacher for the TSU Summer Math Academy delivering hands on STEM based math instruction to rising high school students.
