Overview

This book provides in-depth insight into the most popular and studied manga graphic novels. It focuses on translated works that have been influential in the development of the manga tradition, and includes classics as well as more recent manga works. Often defined by stylized line work, cultural-specific narratives and compelling storytelling, and often in contrast to the character-centric framework of American comics, manga encompasses a broad range of genres and subgenres, including Ecchi anime, Haren anime and Yuri.
