Author Bio

Antonio L. Rappa

Antonio L. Rappa is Associate Professor and Head, Management and Security Studies, SIM University School of Business. He is a political scientist with research interests in Security, Intelligence, Special Forces (Military and Police), and Counterterrorism. His research specialisation is in Thailand. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS); and a former Consultant and Senior Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies’ International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR). He was also Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at the Johns Hopkins University and a Visiting Scholar at the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California at Berkeley. He is the author of several books and articles including Modernity and Consumption (2002), Globalization (2004), Language Policy and Modernity (coauthored) (2006), Globalization: Power Legitimacy and Authority in Late Modernity (2011), and NS45 Commando (editor-in-chief) (2012).
