Wang Rongbao (1878-1933) was a famous scholar and diplomat in the early 20th century. Hang was a core member of the late–Qing constitutional movement. His diary covers an uninterrupted three–year period from the first day of the first lunar month of the first year of Emperor Xuantong's reign to the 30th day of the 12th month of the third year of the same reign, recounting important historical events and social conditions in the last three years of the Qing Dynasty. During this period, Wang served in the Ministry of the Interior affairs and also held part–time positions at important agencies such as the Bureau for the Revision of the Laws and the Preparatory Parliament. His friends and acquaintances were all elites of the day such as Shanqi, Natong, Xu Shichang, Zhang Zongxiang, Cao Rulin, Lu Zongyu, Yang Du, and others.
