Microsoft has Blocked Macros From Running (Windows)

Windows only: When you try to open a project file, you see the following warning: SECURITY RISK Microsoft has blocked macros from running because the source of this file is untrusted. Macros for the project file do not run and the project cannot be completed.

Cause

Microsoft changed a security policy for Office to block all macros from the internet by default. While intended to improve security, this policy change also blocks many legitimate macros, including those required for some SAM projects.

Resolution

Add cengage.com as a trusted domain to enable macros for your SAM projects.

  1. Click Start or type Windows logo key.
  2. Type Internet Options.
  3. Click the Internet Options result for the Control Panel.
  4. In the Internet Properties window, click Security > Trusted Sites > Sites.
  5. In the Trusted sites window, type https://*.cengage.com and click Add.
  6. Close the Trusted sites window.
  7. In the Internet Properties window, click OK.
  8. Close the SAM project file and open it again.

    The project file should now open with macros enabled.
