"Constructing Early Childhood Science" provides early childhood education students with a comprehensive hands-on guide to science education. This is a contemporary, practical methods text that maintains student involvement as an integral part of the course. More than 100 open-ended activities are offered for children ages 3 to 8, most of which provide references to aid teachers in developing an interdisciplinary approach to instruction. Citing the most contemporary publications on each topic, it includes chapters such as technology, multiculturalism, learner differences and the involvement of parents and community in science education. Appendices contain a listing of sources for free and inexpensive science materials, as well as referenced activities and cited children's literature.
