Reviews

"...Designed for middle school students, this series should not be overlooked for high school use as well. Even reluctant readers could find the sports and pop music statistics fascinating. In fact, researchers of any age who need information about popular culture in a particular decade would probably find this series to be quick and convenient. The language is neither too difficult nor too simple for an average reader. Although UXL American Decades covers a lot of ground, as with any such series, some of the included material could be open to question as to its political biases or other biases simply because of what is included or excluded. The series is at its best when it quotes important figures and lets the readers draw their own conclusions about what they say. It is perhaps not quite always as successful in choosing the half dozen or so key people from each decade. As always, references to Websites will tend to be outdated long before the bibliographic information. For those, however, who can afford the price, UXL American Decades is and interesting and unique reference." -- ARBA
