Author Bio

Wang Jianpan

Wang Jianpan is a full professor at the department of mathematics, East China Normal University, and the president of Shanghai Mathematical Society. He was president of East China Normal University from 1997 to 2005, an executive committee member of the International Commission of Mathematical Instruction from 1998 to 2002, and a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization Chair of Teacher Education from 2005 to 2007. He led China’ National Presentation in the 11th International Congress on Mathematical Education and published several related papers in academic journals such as Higher Normal Education Research and Teacher Education Research. He also serves as the editor-in-chief of a set of junior secondary school mathematics textbooks published by East China Normal University Press. His primary research interests include algebraic and quantum groups, in particular, their representation theory. His publications in this field include “Sheaf Cohomology on G/B and Tensor Product of Weyl Modules” (Journal of Algebra, 1991), Quantum Linear Groups with Brian Parshall (a title in the Memoirs of American Mathematical Society series, 1990), and Finite Dimensional Algebras and Quantum Groups with Deng Bangming, Du Jie, and Brian Parshall (a title in the Mathematical Surveys and Monographs series published by American Mathematical Society, 2008).
