Author Bio

Eileen Soskin

Eileen Soskin has been the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University since January 2002. She joined the music theory faculty of the Peabody Conservatory in the fall of 1988. Dr.Soskin earned her Ph.D. at the University of California at Berkeley and, prior to moving to Baltimore, taught at the University of Iowa, the University of California at Berkeley and San Francisco State University. She is well known in the Baltimore area as a pre-concert lecturer, whose vivid talks help audience members listen more intensely to music. Dr. Soskin also performs regularly as both a mezzosoprano and a pianist.
