About

Overview

MindTap™ Health Science for Simmers/Simmers-Nartker/Simmers-Kobelak's DHO: Health Science, 8th Edition is the digital learning solution that helps instructors engage and transform today's students into critical thinkers. Through paths of dynamic assignments and applications that you can personalize, real-time course analytics, and an accessible reader, MindTap helps you turn cookie cutter into cutting edge, apathy into engagement, and memorizers into higher-level thinkers.

Features and Benefits

  • DHO/Health Science, 8th edition content in a reimagined, interactive, and dynamic new way.
  • Coverage includes medical math, 2010 CPR standards, USDA's My Plate, and all new photographs and artwork.
  • Onboarding students and instructors is simple! MindTap is web-based, so only a broad band connection is required for use. There is nothing to download or install.
  • Customize the course – from tools to text – and make adjustments 'on the fly,' making it possible to intertwine breaking news into lessons, incorporate today's teachable moments, and reorganize, add, or remove content from the learning path.
  • Bring interactivty into learning! Engagement activities pique student interest in a topic, while capstone learning labs revisit the engagement activity and expand upon the concept as an interactive case study.
  • Learning lab topics explore critical thinking in health care, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and career path options in health care.
  • Decide what activities and assignments are graded. MindTap tracks students' use, activities and comprehension in real-time, providing opportunities for early intervention to influence progress and outcomes. Grades are automatic, visible and archived so students and instructors always have access to current standings in the class.
  • Chapter content is broken into manageable topics that emphasize critical concepts. Interactive and gradeable assignments (matching, ordering/sorting, multiple choice, etc.) at the end of each topic reinforce the readings. Pre- and post-assessments are provided as a metric for benchmarking.
  • MindApps include ReadSpeaker which reads aloud the text; flashcards, glossary, and dictionary; My Notes which allows for highlighting, bookmarking, and note taking; and ConnectYard which allows communication via social media.

Content and Assets

The MindTap Learning Path guides students through readings, multimedia, and activities designed to follow the learning taxonomy from basic knowledge and comprehension up to analysis and application. By hiding, rearranging, or adding your own content, you control what students see and when they see it and match the Learning Path to your course syllabus exactly.
