RELACIÓNATE is a new, innovative Spanish program ideal for advanced language students. Using a popular Spanish television series, La que se avecina, as the organizing force of the textbook, RELACIÓNATE teaches "real" language use, including informal / colloquial expressions, from a variety of Spanish-speaking countries. This aural input is enhanced and complemented with vocabulary building carried out exclusively in Spanish, conversational strategies and pronunciation practice, communicative practice of advanced grammatical structures, authentic readings from various Spanish-speaking countries, video interviews with Latin American speakers on chapters’ cultural themes and process-writing assignments with real-world purposes and target audiences.

Features and Benefits

  • RELACIÓNATE focuses on real, contextualized language, including slang and culturally rich interactions, rather than the scripted language that is typical of many textbooks.
  • The authentic Spanish television series TV series La que se avecina is incorporated to provide the basis for subsequent conversation, reading and writing practice.
  • The vocabulary and grammar coverage are at the advanced level; the pronunciation tools and attention to pragmatics help to further develop advanced-level speakers.
  • Instructors have access to a website that contains annotated video scripts, rubrics for evaluating written assignments, and supplemental materials that support students' learning.
  • The Premium Website provides students with access to streaming video of the TV series and of the interviews with Latin American speakers, as well as additional grammar instruction (review of language structures and self-graded practice exercises) and expansion materials, including guided Internet research activities and audio files from the TV series to be used for pronunciation practice.
  • The content and format of the student text facilitates dynamic conversations, so instructors can spend less time and effort writing or finding their own supplemental materials.
