We will allow for up to 10% of an active text or individual case studies or labs. Viewing, printing will be permitted only by each individual student in class.

2. If permission is granted for posting to an e-Reserve, is there likely to be a permission fee?

You may be charged a small copyright fee based on the number of pages and the number of students accessing the material.

3. Will Cengage Learning allow posting of entire textbooks to an e-Reserves site?

No. Generally, we allow up to 10% of a text to appear on an e-Reserve site.

Posting of third party material is also not allowed.

4. What about permission for media content (DVD/audio CD)?

These are handled on a case by case basis.

We will grant permission for posting of software that is owned by Cengage Learning. Permission for material owned by a 3rd party must be obtained from the owner/copyright holder.

5. How much time is usually required to receive a response for an e-Reserve permission request?

We recommend submission of a request two weeks prior to use of the material. However, during peak seasons (prior to the beginning of new semesters) a response may take longer than 5-10 business days.

6. How long can Cengage Learning content be posted to an e-Reserves site?

We allow use for up to one year; but an agreement can be licensed for longer periods of time. If you know you will be using the content longer, please indicate this on your request for permission.

7. Does Cengage Learning provide e-Copies of material to customers?
