Independent Study: OWL improves final grades in chemistry
In 2010, an independent study conducted by Kenneth Rath and Alan Peterfreund of the SageFox Consulting Group found that using OWL improves student performance and final grades in chemistry.
Key findings:
- Students who used OWL were more likely to do their homework than those who took the course prior to the introduction of OWL.
- Doing homework in OWL led to a statistically significant improvement in student performance and final grades.
- Students found OWL homework problems, feedback, tutorials, and simulations extremely helpful.
