Overview

AN OVERVIEW OF THE HUMAN SERVICES, 2nd Edition is designed for undergraduates and helps them decide which specialty is right for them. This resource provides a thorough history of the field; a detailed overview of human services agencies, jobs, workers, and populations served; and covers the major theories of causality. At the same time, the book moves beyond lecture-style instruction, actively engaging students in the subject matter via a range of special features. This edition has been revised to improve coverage; for instance, earlier coverage of ethics, more on two-year human service degrees and case management, and a new chapter on the issues and interventions related to interpersonal partner abuse, sexual assault, HIV/AIDS, and LGBT populations.
